Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear Friends of the German Shepherd Dog breed all over the world!

Once again, the WUSV-World Championship UNIVERSAL shall be hosted in an Alpine Republic – I am very happy to welcome you to the 12th WUSV-World Championship 2023 in Sursee in Switzerland. It is the first international WUSV event I am honored to attend in my new office as WUSV President and I look very much forward to meeting competitors, the event organizers, and guests from all over the world who took the journey to Lake Sempach.

I do very much appreciate the versatility of our popular breed – not only in my function as a trial- and rescue dog judge at the SV. Against this background, the WUSV World Championship UNIVERSAL is a very special event because on this occasion the German Shepherd Dog breed is presented in its full range – Trial & Breeding. Therefore, the requirements for the participation are exceptionally diverse and we will get to know dogs who meet the highest demands in dog sports. It is for a reason that this event enjoys an ever-growing popularity at a worldwide level.

The officiating judges Egon Gutknecht (D), Wolfgang Hafner (A), Pedro Luis Gutiérrez Rebolledo (E), Robert Markschläger (A), Hari Arčon (SL) and Margit van Dorssen (D) are an excellent, very experienced international judges’ team and therefore a perfect choice.

For Margit van Dorssen this will be the last international WUSV event that she will judge since we will have to bid her farewell by the end of the year in her position as a breeding judge and breed survey master. Please allow me to use this opportunity to give thanks to her for the many decades of her life that she dedicated to the benefit of our breed – the German Shepherd Dog.

Of course, my thanks also go to the organizational team of the Schweizerischer Schäferhunde Club (SC) which is doing fantastic work – and which really lives up to the proverbial Swiss precision and reliability.

The Schlottermilch stadium is located in a scenic area and there is much to discover. I am sure that both – guests and competitors to the event – will enjoy themselves and have a good time in Sursee.

Therefore, I would not like to miss out on the opportunity to give thanks to the City Council and to the citizens of Sursee for their hospitality.

I wish all participants the best of success – but most of all I wish that the international teams spend a harmonious time together and use this chance for a vivid exchange and for networking because our organization depends on a successful community based on strong and reliable frienship.

I am looking forward to meeting you in Sursee and send my kindest wishes,

Roswitha Dannenberg

WUSV President
