Robert Markschläger – born on March 05th, 1957 in Linz/ Austria

I have been a trial judge since 1996 at both – the Österreichischen Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde (SVÖ) and the Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde (SV) e.V.

Before my retirement four years ago I worked as a manager of a regional bank.

Since my father was a breeder for German Shepherd Dogs, I have felt a deep bond with the breed ever since I was a child. I have been a member to the club in Austria for 50 years – for 33 years I have also held the office of chairman to a local chapter. For almost 20 years I have been a speaker instructor at the Austrian FCI branch – the Österreichischen Kynologen Verband and since 2022 I have been president to the FCI Working Dogs Commission. In 2011 my local chapter hosted the first WUSV-World Championship Universal and we are very happy that a well established championship grew out of this pilot project.

I trained several dogs for IGP- and for tracking examinations. My male dog is now over the age of twelve years old and enjoys his well deserved retirement. With him I started three times at the WUSV-World Championship and once at the FCI-Tracking Championship.

In my position as trial judge, I officiated at many national and also international events. Three times I was appointed to judge the FCI-World Championship for Working Dogs and one time at the FCI-World Championship for Tracking Dogs.

I am a strong supporter of the WUSV-World Championship UNIVERSAL. From my point of view, it should be the highest and most important event for a dog breeding club with the aim to maintain and improve the working dogs properties on the one hand – and on the other hand to evaluate the anatomics and most important the health status of the dogs.

It is a big honor for me and fills me with joy that I was appointed to judge section B – Obedience – on the occasion of this year’s WUSV-World Championship UNIVERSAL.
